Bennie is an aging former punk rocker and record executive. Sasha is the passionate, troubled young woman he employs. Here Jennifer Egan brilliantly reveals their pasts, along with the inner lives of a host of other characters whose paths intersect with theirs. With music pulsing on every page, A Visit from the Goon Squad is a startling, exhilarating novel of self-destruction and redemption.

This is one of the best books I have ever read. Time is a goon and it is presented here as a half monster half protagonist. The story centers around Bennie, but the minor characters are more interesting in my opinion. It reads like a collection of short stories, but how the different stories fit together is done very well. The ending was so unexpected and brought me to tears after reading a story full of people falling from grace.
