Reacher's anonymity in Florida is shattered by an investigator who's come looking for him. But hours after his arrival, the stranger is murdered. Retracing the PI's trail back to New York, Reacher's compelled to find out who was looking for him and why. He never expected the reasons to be so personal-and twisted.

Child's still learning here. He's not yet he author lauded by the Times Literary Supplement a few months ago. Any competent CC'er could trim fifty to a hundred pages from Tripwire, making it better. Of the half dozen or so Jack Reacher novels I've read since an anonymous neighbor started giving them away, those substantially involving the military are weakest.
